An Overview of Basketball Hoops and Basketball Goals
Basketball hoops and basketball goals are available in a number of both portable and wall mounted systems. The type you should choose will depend on the type of location where basketball is being played and how often your games are scheduled.
If you are looking to add basketball hoops and basketball goals to a gym, you can choose to install a Wallmount system like the WallMount68. The advantage to choosing this type of system is that you don't have to calculate your extension requirements before you order. The product does allow you to adjust the backboard extension between 6 and 8' during installation so that you can match it to the court markings on the floor. In addition, you can use any backboard you choose with this system.
In a situation where you like the idea of having a Wallmount basketball hoops and basketball goals system but space is at a premium, consider the FoldaMount46. You still have the look of a wall-mounted system, but you can move it flush against the wall during times when the gym is being used for volleyball or other sports. You get a quality unit with the flexibility you need for multiple sports.
The Rampage is an example of a portable basketball hoops and basketball goals unit. The height can be adjusted between 6'6" and 10", depending on the ages and skill levels of the players involved. Adjusting the height is a simple matter of using the unit's crank system. The Rampage can be moved from place to place easily, which makes it a good choice whether you are moving it across the driveway or to a different location in the gym. To help keep players safe and free from injury, the base and stem are outfitted with thick vinyl padding, which is available in several colors.
Adjustable basketball hoops and basketball goals are another option on the market. For example, the Jam system is mounted on a heavy gauge 4" x 4" post that has the advantage of being sturdier and less likely to deteriorate over time than posts that are made up of multiple pieces. The rim height can be adjusted anywhere from 7' to 10', as desired. A breakaway goal and a net are included in the package. The Jam can be used with several types of acrylic backboards, and pole padding and backboard padding can be added as needed.
The Legend is an example of a fixed-height system. The post is placed 66" behind the backboard as a safety feature. The Legend is made up of two pieces: a post and an extension arm. You do have the option of attaching the extension arm to the post with high tensile bolts at the height you choose. When you choose the Legend system, you also get to choose from several types of rims and backboards, including ones made of tempered glass. Youngsters playing basketball will enjoy the fact that the backboard looks similar to the type used for college and professional games.
