Quart Oval
Can you cook a pork roast in a oval dutch oven or should I use a roasting pan instead?
I have both but was wondering if it is possible to use a dutch oven to sear it first then put it in the oven to cook the rest of the way through. I have a Le Creuset 8 quart oval dutch oven and the roast weighs 4 1/2 pounds. Should I use a lid or no lid?
You most certainly can! I always use the same pan to sear and cook my roasts, if it's big enough. I allow for about 2 -3 inches all around the protein for vegetables and better heat flow and yes, I do use the lid as well. This will increase your cooking time and to keep all of those wonderful flavors steaming together for maximum taste.
