Over Range
Swap over the range microwave, difficult?
I purchased a new over the range microwave, I need to swap it out with my old one. All the instructions are for a brand new installation, and I don't need to go that far. How difficult is it to swap out over the range microwaves? What do i need to keep in mind?
You must be very handy and have tools to do this job. You should follow the directions that came with the new one. I installed several in an apartment complex. Each one presented a little different problem. The hole for the Power Cord must be relocated in most cases. The vent hood pipe can be a problem as well.In most cases they must be altered slightly. You will get a template that fits under the cabinets. After you remove the old microwave place this template and see how things line up. Make sure all new holes will conform to the template. Hang the plate over the range as instructed in the directions.With help hang the microwave on this plate and install the bolts that hold it up to the cabinets. Hook up your vent pipe and enjoy.
