Oven Microwave
I'm thinking of getting a new gas range and an above oven microwave.?
The GE ...model JGB918SELSS free standing range and the GE Advantium 120 SCA1001K over the range microwave/oven? Anyone have any comments on these two models?
GE makes good products. However, the newer electric ranges with smooth cook tops are by far better, safer, cooler for your home. And the operating cost is about 1/5 that of gas. Smooth tops are easy to clean, gas is not.
Unless you need a "lot" of heat. Electric is the better way.
The model you listed is not in the top 30 models as selected by consumer report. The 918wek ww is , but is not a "best buy".
That is an expensive stove for a normal /regular homeowners use.
The microwave is also expensive and ranks about #35 in the ratings.
If I were in the market like you- I would invest $26 bucks in an online subscription to "Consumer Report" and look at the ratings for appliances before I spent the amount of money you will spend on these two items (about $2,000+).
I would consider electric. If your home is not wired for an electric stove, you may be better spending the money to rewire.
Just my opinion.
